So highly did Chris hold the scripts, it was rare to ever see him so much as fluff a line. He was impressively word-perfect, always. “There was one day on Bad Wolf,” remembers Nick Briggs, “when he discovered, in rehearsal, that he’d accidentally not learnt one of the speeches. He had so many lines to learn!….Chris was mortified and couldn’t stop apologising to everyone —- but, by the time we’d got to the take, he’d learnt it.”
